You can reply to them and tell them that your child is a British citizen. You truly don't have to do anything.Moojs wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 11:36 amHopefully someone can help me my wife's in the UK on a spouse visa and I'm a British citizen from birth she gave birth the other day and we received this letter.. were new to this what do we do? Exempt categories of person
The following categories of overseas visitor are exempt from charge:
Those who have paid the health surcharge or are covered by transitional
arrangements
The 3 months is to allow the parent/s time to have a visa granted for their baby. Being granted a visa means the health surcharge would have been paid.A child born in the UK to an above-mentioned exempt person is also exempt
from charge up to the age of three months provided that the child has not left
the UK since birth.
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... y-2022.pdfMaking a fair contribution: Government response to the consultation on the extension of charging overseasvisitors and migrants using the NHS in England (published 6 February 2017) stated that the Government is stillconsidering its proposal to extend charging for overseas visitors to services provided at an A&E unit or similar.
Congratulations, 1 less worry to be bothered aboutMoojs wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 4:00 amThankyou all for the replys, I emailed them (they didn't want to answer the phone) explained I was the dad and got a lengthy email explaining why the letter was sent out (e.g they can only go with what info they have on the mum) but now they know I'm the dad ok ... "we've updated our information thankyou" end of convo ..
And we registered her with our local council a week after her birth which was a very straight forward procedure which was nice
