Spelling mistake in dependent visa vignette is noticed after 4 months

Post by seyduna2007 » Fri Oct 14, 2022 1:06 pm

Dear all,

I have a Tier 2 visa and my wife got her PBS dependent visa in June 2022. She came to the UK in the beginning of June and got her BRP with no problems.

We have just noticed that there is a minor spelling mistake regarding my name in her visa vignette. It should have been "C Smith"; however, it is "S Smith".

It is possible to rectify this without problem if it is raised within 3 months after arrival in the UK. But we have just noticed this (after 4 months).

Do you think if this could create problems in future applications?

Kind regards

If the error was on her vignette that has now obviously expired as she has a BRP, there's no need to worry yourself about it.

The mistake was your name, not her name.

Just carry on like it never happened. No backlash.

Thank you for your comment. However, it says in the link below that "if the applicant has been in the UK for more than 3 months when they seek to correct an endorsement, they should vary their leave through an application for leave to remain"

Do you think this is not a big mistake and there is no point to make a new visa application just for this? Her vignette expired, she got her BRP without a problem. But I am worried if this error in the vignette creates problems for my wife's future applications.

Kind regards

No action needed in my opinion.
Her BRP supersedes the vignette which is expired now any way so if everything is correct on the BRP then no need to worry yourself.

You're overthinking it. The vignette has been superseded by the BRP.
