UK Visa Vignette Correction

Post by whizkay7 » Wed Oct 05, 2022 10:43 am

I got my visa last week but the 'valid from' date on the vignette is 30 days later than I inputted as my travel date. I spoke to my employer in a bid to adjust the resumption date, but they requested that I go back to the VAC to have the vignette amended. Has anyone here ever had to amend their vignette, how was it done and how long did it take?

Is this for a skilled worker visa?

If yes, what was the employment start date in the CoS and your application and the CoS start and expiry dates

For a skilled visa, the employment start date in CoS and Application is Oct 17. CoS expiry date is December but the vignette valid from is 26 oct which is after my resumption date

It doesn't matter really. Just plan accordingly and your sponsor can add a note in the SMS system.

Note that your travel date is irrelevant if you had planned to travel a month prior to the work start date.

Are you saying I can travel before my vignette's 'valid from' date? I had requested to travel 3 weeks before the work start date but it appears they added exactly a month to it (i guess in error). I'm not sure i understand your last sentence.

There doesn't appear to be an error. You cannot ask for a visa earlier than the details in the CoS.

You can only travel from the valid from date of your visa vignette.

The date you wish to travel is irrelevant. For a Skilled Worker visa, the relevant dates are the dates in the CoS.

That is not the case here. The valid from date is after the date in the CoS, which doesn't make sense because i shouldn't have to travel after the resumption date in my CoS has passed.

A visa vignette cannot be granted for a date in the past.

I understand that. I applied before the travel date. I collected the visa 2 days after the travel date . I had expected that it would be granted for a date before my start date and after the decision date. At least judgmentally. I have no problem waiting till the 26th of October but my employer has insisted that I return the passport for correction. Also, drawing from multiple experiences, the valid from date is typically the date in your VAF whether in the past or future.

The valid from date is in line with the details in the CoS.

All my visas/CoS I assign are exactly the same.

For the sake of a few days, is it really worth it as the process can take a couple of weeks.
