IELTS general or academic

Post by MarkCa » Thu Oct 27, 2022 11:23 am

Hello,

We sponsored a few workers so far and all of them did IELTS for general training to show there knowledge of English.

However, at the moment there aren't any slots for the "general training" for at least 3 months and there are some slots for IELTS academic within a few days.

Can skilled worker do IELTS academic and apply for Skilled worker visa? I believe that guidance doesn't mention any difference (or existence) between two tests, and only score is important.

Furthermore, I believe that difference between these two tests exists only on IELTS website and not really within the UKVI.

Both tests would be done in British Council (same test centre, registered and recognised by UKVI) and both contain the same areas (speaking, reading, writing, listening).

I tried googling and I do not believe that there are differences between them, it just says that topics on test might be different.

Can skilled worker then do IELTS academic and with that score apply for Skilled Worker Visa?

Thanks!
