Cancel and reapply visit visa

Hi everyone. Your guidance please. My parents have a visit visa that will expire in February but unable to travel just yet due to problems back home. Is it possible to cancel the current visa now and reapply for a new one for them immediately?

I wish them to be here on holiday here around March and I'm just taking into consideration the decision waiting time for a visit visa. Ideally they would like to stay for 3 months and the current visa they have now is expiring 2nd week of February.

Will it be a problem if they are unable to use the current one? Will they be questioned or refused when they reapply? Will they have to wait for a specified time before re applying? Thank you.

Thank you.Not a problem at all. It was paid for, it's their problem if it wasn't used. UK government or any other government don't care if visas aren't used.

If the their visas are approved, the new visa would commence from the expiry date of the older one.
The previous wouldn't be cancelled. So invariably, they could potentially have 2 valid visas on their passport with back to back dates.

Example: 12.08.22 - 12.02.23
New visa : 13.02.23 - 13.XX.24

FYI, travel plans change all the time.

Just to confirm, I can apply for a new visa even thought they have a current one?

Even with the presence of the 2 visas, I am assuming that the 180 days maximum stay in the UK will still apply?
