Which is better spouse or skilled worker?

Post by Rubby » Thu Dec 29, 2022 9:20 am

Hello,
I am British who recently got married to an Egyptian man. My husband, based in Egypt, is currently waiting for his spouse visa to come to the UK (spouse visa application submitted in Sep 2022 and is assigned to an immigration office mid Oct 2022). My husband has just been offered a job from a British based company. The company could got him a skilled worker visa (decision usually takes 3 weeks).
My question is: Is it better for him to wait for the spouse visa or to switch to a skilled worker visa? p.s. he is planning to stay and work in the UK, get a British citizenship and might have some business plans.
Thanks in advance,
Rubby

If he withdraws his spouse visa, you lose the fees.

For a skilled worker visa, all the fees will be payable again. He will bviously only be able to work for the visa sponsor while on this visa.

His choice what he wants to do. Be aware though that he cannot have two simultaneous applications with ukvi.

Is this with absolute guarantee from the company as you sound quite certain Do note the fee loss pointed out by CR001

I'll take a spouse visa over a skilled worker visa. All have their pros and cons, but I go with spouse all day long.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
