Change of name

My wife and I married in June '22, my wife switched from a T5 visa to an FLR(M) in August '22. In the interest of expediency she did not change her name.

She would now like to change her name. We understand that the process is in this order;

• Update passport
• Update BRP
• Update drivers license

Importantly we understand that until (1) and (2) are complete she won't be able to travel outside the common area.

She can update her passport same-day, however we can't find much information on how long the BRP update takes. Going through the application form seems to give a standard timeframe of 8 weeks and some forum posts mention timelines as long as four months.

This is a significant problem for us because she travels 1-2x /month for work.

• Are we correct that she can't travel while the BRP is being updated?
• Is there any better information available on likely wait times?
• Is there any way to pay to accelerate the BRP?

Not sure any airline would carry her if the name on passport and BRP don't match. Assuming she's changed her passport details first and waiting on the changes on BRP.
BRP correction cannot be fast tracked, it takes as long as it takes.
