Bringing mum for a visit visa

Post by MandA London » Wed Mar 08, 2023 10:43 pm

"What type of visa should my wife apply for if she wants to invite my mother to come stay with her during her pregnancy and labour, and what documents should we include in the application process? Additionally, as we are currently on Universal Credit, would my mother be eligible to obtain a visa for this purpose?"

The appropriate would be visitor visa. However does not know how stating she is coming to be with your wife during pregnancy and labour will look like. Then after delivery she will I presume ve around to assist with baby which can be termed as working by HO.
For visitor applications most important is to provide
1. Contemporary evidence showing applicants strong ties to home country which will warrant their going back after visit
2. The relationship and financial status of the person(s) being visited in UK as the visitor is not supposed to become public charge/get public funds.

Do have a read of below:

thanks for your reply, so from your reply , it is most likely to get refused if the person she is visiting on universal credit. which is not clearly said in the attached link

Provided that you mum is fully financially stable back home, you current financial situation has no bearing on her application.

If you are planning to sponsor her, then it gets tricky from there.

So I guess the question is/are;
1. Does your mum still work
2. If she financially stable
3. Has she got substantial funds in her account
4. Would she be fully sponsoring her trip to the UK, and can she evidence this? Apart from accommodation and feeding.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
