I am completing a family member visa application to settle in UK. VFS website mentions that the applicant needs to bring to the appointment ‘Printout of your checklist: From your completed application on GOV.UK’. I thought appointment confirmation printout and passport should be enough as all documents will be uploaded online and we are not planning to use their documents scanning service.
Can anyone please let me know whether a printout of the checklist is mandatory?

If in this case it was asked for, do go with it to your appointment.

The document check list is explicit-contains all financial details of the sponsor

I am sponsoring my wife for a spouse visa and I wanted to find out about the requirement that the bank statement should be within 28 days of the application. Is the application date the date application is submitted on gov.uk or is this the date biometrics are enrolled? It will be strange if date of biometrics is considered for this purpose as we don’t know what date we can get an appointment with VFS for biometrics.

Date of application is the date you submit and pay online. It is not the biometric appointment date

I have two questions:
1. On the application form there is a question: Does <sponsor’s name> have any Home Office reference numbers?
I am applying the visa for my spouse but I am not sure what reference it is asking for. Any ideas?
2. I have previously sponsored my ex-wife for spouse visa and then withdrawn sponsorship and informed the Home Office as per the requirements. I am disclosing previous spouse details on the application, but I would like to find out whether I need to mention on the application under Extra Information section that I have previously sponsored someone and then withdrawn sponsorship. The HOME office would already have these details. Should I disclose these details in my sponsorship covering letter or should I also include it in the application under Extra Information?

I have few questions on spouse visa application procedure.
1. Do we only need to complete the application form on GOV.UK and upload required documents on to VFS website?
2. Do we need to complete Appendix 2 VAF4A or it has been completely replaced by the online form?

3. Is there any sponsorship undertaking that needs to be submitted?

1. Yes.
2. No. All info is in online form for meeting the financial requirement.
3. No.

I am completing online application for a spouse visa and I have few questions:
1. I am completing and submitting the online application on behalf of my spouse and I am the sponsor. The form asks for contact details both email and phone numbers of the applicant. The preference will be to contact me with any queries rather than the applicant. In the section asking for preferred contact number should I put my number or my spouse number? The issue is that it is specifically asking for applicant’s contact number, so I am not sure whether it is appropriate to provide my number there
2. There is question: Does <my name> have any Home Office reference numbers? I am not sure what reference number it is asking for. I am a British citizen, so should I answer the question as No?

1. You should put the contact number it is asking for, ie the applicant.
2. It is asking IF you have one. Obvisiously answer no if you don't. It isn't a trick question!
Also, please do not start a new topic with each question. Keep all questions in one topic, this one.

Thank you. I have two further questions
1. The IHS website is showing visa type as husband. Shouldn’t the visa type be wife as the application is for my wife?
2. On the application there is a question: What is your relationship to <my name>? Should the answer to this question be husband or wife? The application was filled from applicants’ a perspective, so I thought it should be husband.
I will appreciate if some one can answer them asap.

Check the answers you have filled in before

I am finding it confusing under which category some of the documents needs to be uploaded. For example, there is a section Financial evidence which is for bank statements etc. and there is also a category for sponsor documents where the explanation suggests it is asking for same documents of the sponsor. I am applying for a UK spouse visa, so I am not sure which category will be appropriate for which document.
1. Should I upload all documents of sponsor including bank statements and payslips and employment letter under the sponsor category rather than employment category? I am assuming they have the same categories for all types of visa, so the employment one is really for the applicant‘s employment
2. Does uploading a document under the wrong category really matter given the confusing description on the VFS website?

1. The applicant's employment is completely irrelevant and no evidence required for a spouse visa application from outside the UK. Only YOUR employment is relevant. Sponsor documents refers to your Passport copy etc, not employment/financial requirement documents.
2. It doesn't matter which category you upload in, it will ALL be visible to the caseworker.

Thank you. I appreciate your reply, but there is still some confusion. There is a section for Accommodation and then under the sponsor document section it also gives examples of accommodation evidence. This is where it gets confusing what section to use for which section.

The categories is to make easy work for CW and or anyone attending to your application. However if you Upload everything under whichever category, the case worker will look through it all.
