Change employer before you visa curtail

Post by Information1263 » Sat Jul 01, 2023 1:36 pm

Hi!
I got sacked while working on a skilled worker visa. My last day at work will be end of July and my employer will report it to home office around 18 of July.
Luckily I found a new sponsor and they will issue my new CoS and process the visa soon.
(They don't know about the sack, and if possible I don't want to let them know)

My question is..
1) In this case, Can I just apply to update my visa to change my employer in the link below as my old employer hasn't reported home office yet?

Update your visa if you change job or employer
https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/ ... r-employer

;Or I should make a totally new application for a skilled worker visa again? is there any link for it?

2) Is there any issue if my old employer inform home office the end of employment after I submit Update my visa?
(ie. Does it affect on the decision of new application or I should leave UK immediately?)

3) How is it different to make an application for the visa when you change job "after being fired" and "you
just got a new job offer" while working on skilled worker visa ?

4) any advice would be appreciated!!

Thank you!

Agree with your choice: Update your visa if you change job or employer.

However, I think they may be the same application in the end.

I think making an in-time valid application (before your leave expires or before a curtailment date) is the really important point.

Thank you very much Vinny!!
Just one more question..
If my last day is 30 July, my employer must report it to HomeOffice within 10 days AFTER 30 July
or BEFORE 30 July?

Thank you!

10 days days after the last day of employment is the latest in time notification your employer can make. They can also make a future date of leaving notification if they wish.
