Citizenship Ceremony (Moving Home)

Post by jedi900 » Mon Jul 03, 2023 2:31 pm

Hi All I managed to get my citizenship ceremony email today.

I have to wait a day to book a date however I am moving home on 24th July to a different council, if no date is available prior to that move is it ok to still attend in my old council? Or is it mandatory to only attend in the council you reside in.

I am not moving far away (next borough up) so travelling is not an issue. Want to keep it simple but unsure of rules as i cant find any details when i google. I have seen posts that say you have to get old council to send invitation back to home office and then reassign it to new council but its a long process.

No,it is not mandatory to attend in your local council. You can move and still go the old council for the ceremony!
