Just want to get clarification, that if he gets redundant from the company which sponsored him for Tier2 visa. And he does not start a new job with new employer until he gets decision on his ILR application.

As others have also pointed out, the ILR requirements for the visa route you are currently on do not matter. You must satisfy the ILR requirements under the long residence rules. It is all about having 10 years of continuous and lawful residence.
