GTV (exceptional promise via peer-review, BA) to ILR?

Post by somepromise_ » Tue Jul 11, 2023 5:19 pm

Hi,
I have a global talent visa (exceptional promise) endorsed via route 4 (peer review) by the British Academy. I have had this for 2 years. I am combining this with my T2 visas (2 years, continuous).

Am I eligible to apply for the 3 year ILR route? My understanding, based on the Home Office website (copied below), is that I would be. However, there seems to be some doubt about whether this covers exceptional promise via peer review or not?

Has anyone submitted an ILR application after 3 years when they had an endorsement via peer review for exceptional promise (whether by British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society or UK Research and Innovation)? Were there any issues?

Thanks!

From Home Office's webpage on ILR eligibility for Global Talent https://www.gov.uk/indefinite-leave-to- ... ligibility:

Global Talent
The time you must have been in the UK depends on how you were endorsed.

You can apply after 3 years if you were endorsed by either:

the British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society or UK Research and Innovation
Arts Council England or Tech Nation - this must be as a recognised leader (‘exceptional talent’)
Or if you were endorsed by Arts Council England or Tech Nation as an emerging leader (‘exceptional promise’), you can apply after 5 years.

If you did not need an endorsement for your visa because you had won an eligible award, you can apply after 3 years.

You skipped the bullet points and are mixing things here :!:

The guidance says:

  • the British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society or UK Research and Innovation
  • Arts Council England or Tech Nation - this must be as a recognised leader (‘exceptional talent’)

ILR - Global talent

The bold & underlined section applies to you.
