ILR based on Long Residence?

Post by Geoff2 » Thu Jul 13, 2023 11:00 am

Good morning moderators. Hope someone can help me.
We were first granted leave to remain in September 2013 on 10 year family route. We renew every 30 months. We have 4 kids all are British citizens. Our current visas expire in December 2024.
1. Can we apply for ILR anytime before December 2024?
2. Or we MUST apply before September 2023 ?
I would appreciate your response. Geoff

Apply any time when you are completing 10yrs in UK but before the expiration of the current leave.

Due to financial issues we want to apply for ILR in January 2024. Hope it won't be a problem

Regarding finances, be aware that the fees weren't increased in the last fiscal year but these could be raised at any time from now, so everyone will need to plan accordingly for any application in the future.

Citizens of Jamaica (per your flag) are exempt from the English test for settlement and citizenship: https://www.gov.uk/english-language/exemptions
The LITUK test has to be done before receiving ILR (and will be valid for citizenship as well).

Under long residence, you must apply on your own and qualify on your own. So two separate applications

The route you are on is not important. There is only one form for the long residence which is SET(LR)

Thank you all for your advice,We have taken and passed the Life In The UK test. But I am not sure if my wife needs to take the English Language test.I am Jamaican and my wife is Nigerian,we are applying for ILR set(LR) after completing 10 years on the family/private life route.
We have 4 children all are British and were born in the UK.
Does my wife need to take the English language test.

Also I went through a red light, received a fine and paid and took the awareness course.
Do I need to declare this and will it affect my ILR application.

We dont have sight of your form or application or what you have uploaded. So check to see what mandatory document you have left to upload.
Or could it be the naming of the files? Make your checks.
