Parent coming to England as 'Standard Visitor' from India

Post by Join23 » Wed Jul 26, 2023 1:45 pm

Hello

As per my title. The lady is 67, married and my mother-in-law
I was born in the UK
Married, own my own property
Have above-average income
Have savings
Always worked at my current place 4 years there
I have pay slips, bank accounts etc etc
We have a 4-bed house and one room is spare

My mother-in-law (MiL) will be self-funding her return ticket.
Hoping to visit for a few weeks possibly a couple of months
MiL is married and has an adult daughter at their home in India
They have assests but in husbands' name inc bank accounts, land and property, worth approx 70k British pounds.

Do I need to complete a sponsor form? If so, which one, please?
Do I need to send@
Coucil tax bill - its in joint names me and my wife
My bank statment, will one do or 6 required?
Do we need to send with the above a 'sponsor letter' and say why MiL is visiting etc

And any other tips - ie best thing to say etc but to be clear she is a genuine visitor to see her daughter, grandkids, me and have a little holiday at the same time
We will be fuding her stay but she will also have her own money

Is medical insurance required by MiL?

Thnaks

Update

I've been reading through many posts today and have done it before

The main info I need now is:

For a 'standard visitor@ from India to England, what form do I use, please? Link would be good.

A template for a supporting letter for the above link also required

I (my wife does not work not claim benefits, she is a housewife) will be supplied as follows:

My and wifes passport photo-copies

A council tax bill copy for the current period that is i my and my wife's name

A copy of of 6 bank statements - (On average having paid bills etc/mortgage etc, we manage to save in excess of 2k per month)

Copy of marriage certificate

Our full address that can be searched shows 4 bedrooms, granny anex used as office, playroom

My employer details

NB: We have saving in excess of 200k - not sure if that needs to be sent or just asned that and not bank statmens, what do you think?

Thank you again

So there's no doubt that you can sponsor you MiL, the questions is how financially strong is she back home. Take yourself out of the equation. Can she prove income and does she have savings? And a job?
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
