self employed on spouse visa

Post by rommy » Mon Feb 13, 2023 9:42 pm

Hello everyone,

I have got a question about maternity allowance.

As my wife is on spouse visa, she cannot claim child benefit which is ok. But she is also missing out on national insurance credit due to this.

My question is can she be registered as self employed and make voluntry class 2 national insurance contributions?

Just bringing up this topic again.

My wife has been registered as self employed since last Nov and she has been making voluntary class 2 NI contributions.

We are having our 2nd baby later this year. Is she entitled to get maternity allowance for self employed as I understand its not a public fund?

i don't think so , you need to be in employment in order to receive maternity allowance you need to be in employment. and the employer gives you these things.
