Adequate Maintenance Allowance - PIP HELP

Post by Khuram91 » Thu Sep 21, 2023 3:34 am

Hi,

Can someone help me as I am really struggling with the adequate maintenance allowance part and what I need to do and how I calculate it. I am the sponsor.

I work and receive £23400 per year gross figure. This is before and deductions.

I am also in receipt of PIP due to my health. This is the lower weekly rate for the daily living component which I get £272.40 per month, which is £68.10 a week.

I live with my grandma and do not pay no rent and no bills, I just give her a £100 a month to help. She will be happy to accommodate me and my partner and every thing stays the same. I have a latter from her saying she is happy to accommodate me without any further costs. Her passport copy and also the house title deeds. She owns the house outright with no mortgage. On the letter she stated that I help with the bills per month of £100 that is all I pay her and this will not increase. I have also got a property report to show that there is adequate living space.

The question I have is, do I need to calculate the figure myself using the A-B=C method, if so can someone help me do this. And also what else do I need to include.

I will be submitting my pip award letter, 6 months bank slips showing my salary and pip being paid, 6 months pay slips, a letter from HR confirming my salary and I am a full time perm employee.

Any help will be appreciated please as I am struggling with this part and can not afford to get legal advice.

Thanks in advance

Who are you trying to bring over? Assuming a spouse?

I believe you are overthinking the maintenance- your gross salary is above the threshold in its own right. Job done really. The other income / benefits above this will not make a difference. You don’t increase your likelihood of a visa grant because of earning above the threshold.

A couple of other points that might be worthy of discussion

Nationality of your spouse and how you met and married.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.

Because I am in receipt of PIP my calculation is carried out using adequate maintenance rather then just salary.

I met my suppose in Sri Lanka at a wedding. She is from Sri Lanka. I will be seeding screen shots of messages from WhatsApp 3 from each month for the last 6 months. However I do not have screen shots of calls as I did not think this will be required. Will this be an issue. I am able to get calls made from August and September but nothing prior to this as my WhatsApp does not store any before that?

Shall I put a letter explaining this with the calls mentioned or will the WhatsApp chats alone be fine.

I have met my spouse 2 occasions after marriage, have pictures before and after marriage and also proof of sending her money via money gram

Your basic salary is above the threshold so your PIP side of things does not need to come into the calculation. If you were not salaried above the threshold then PIP calculation would be used. Overthinking things a bit 😀

Your meeting and correspondence side of things sounds solid so I wish you good luck and a speedy decision.

Adequate Maintenance Allowance - Error

Post by Khuram91 » Sat Sep 30, 2023 6:36 am

Hi,

My wife (spouse) went for her biometrics yesterday and I have had an email to say that my documents have been dispatched to the UK for processing.

However I have realised I have made a mistake on the calculation for adequate maintenance as I calculated it incorrectly. Even with the correct calculation I will be over the threshold, does this mean the visa will be rejected.

All the supporting documents are correct apart from the calculation I done!

Do I contact UKVI, write a letter to them, email them or will the person that decides on the application just work out the correct calculation, I am so stressed!

Thanks

After having all the time in the world to attend and go over before biometrics appointment. You can hope for the best.
