BRP Card Expired End Of August 2023

Hi I need some advise here. I have Indefinite Leave to Remain since 2013 but my wife and I have been tied up with my daughters medical health issues hence it did not occur to me that my BRP Card will expire this year and I have not been ready to naturalize yet as we are a family of 5.

I was made to understand that the card will no longer be required from 2025 but to prove your immigration status you now need a shared code.

I tried to register for it but it did not take my biometrics details for unknown reasons. Does this mean I have to first renew the card before I can get a shared code?

BRPs are still required for travel until a new replacement system is introduced
Share codes are used to prove your status to a prospective employer or landlord to satisfy the requirements under the law. As far as I know, you still need a valid BRP to get a share code
