spouse visa extension - address letters

Post by rizwanq123 » Tue Nov 07, 2023 9:23 am

Hi,

My visa is due to expire in December. I am on 10 year route for spouse visa. I am looking to extend and go onto 5 year route. I am clear on income and understand which documents are needed, housing documents are fine as well. Just unclear on 2 things.

Previously there used to be a requirement that there should be 6 joint bills/proof of addresses etc over the 2 years. Is that still a requirement? And how many? I think we have joint council tax, joint water bill, joint bank account and other separate accounts at same address. We have been at address for 6 years. Also do bank statements need to be verified within the bank or online statements are accepted now?

Thanks in advance

There's never been a requirement to have joint bills per se. The requirement is to have utility bills that show you live at the same address. It could be joint or individual bills.
6 joint bills spaced out 3-4 months for 2 years, 6 individual bills spaced out 3-4 months for 2 years, or a mixture (like 3 joint and 3 individual) spaced out 3-4 months for 2 years. You can mix as you like.

Online bank statements are fine.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Ok thank you - so If we had 3 joint bills then we would need 3 individual bills to complete the requirement. Do you mean to say 3 for me and 3 for my wife or 3 covering both of us?

It will mean 3 joint bills and 3 individual bills each I.e. 3 from you and 3 from spouse.
