No Charge for Expired BRP - ILR?????

Post by Froster86 » Thu Oct 12, 2023 4:59 pm

I've just submitted my wife's application for a replacement BRP card which has expired. I was expecting to be charged £56 but when it came to 'Payment' section the cost was 0 GBP!

My wife is Ukrainian and I know that Ukrainian refugees don't pay for their BRP but my wife isn't a refugee. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Yes others have reported tbis. We dont know why.

Presumably she holds Indefinite leave to remain?

Are you aware that a replacement BRP will only be valid till 31 december 2024, ehen brps are phased out?

Yes she holds ILR and yes aware they will be phased out on 31.12.24 thanks.

Just really getting it for peace of mind when travelling. Heard stories of people with ILR but expired BRPs being denied travel by some Stupid into the UK. Although she did actually travel into Heathrow from Spain this summer with an expired card. No issue with British Airways at Palma Airport but they had to run extra checks at the UK Border along with a proverbial slap on the wrist!

£1500 odd for citizenship and that doesn't really bring any additional benefits with it. Was a different story pre-Brexit.....

How it all turned out:

12/10/23 - Application submitted - No Cost
28/10/23 - Biometrics Supplied at a Sopria Centre - £139
13/11/23 - Email from UKVI saying Application was successful. Will receive new BRP within 7 working days

Easiest ever experience with UKVI in my life. Same day Suella Braverman resigned from the Home Office can't be a coincidence ;-)
