Applying for an EEA2 Residence Card...

Post by megmog » Wed Dec 17, 2008 3:47 pm

Hi all,

My husband and I are just filling out form EEA2 as part of his application for a residence card and have a few questions regarding what supporting documents to submit...

We have the usual.. marriage cert, my wage slips, contract of employment, passports, photographs...

On the final page they mention a "document checklist"... included in this checklist are things like "pension document", "comprehensive sickness insurance document", "lease/cis card/inland revnue form", "doctors letter" etc.

I havent heard about any of these being needed before...

Does anyone know what exactly are we supposed to submit?

Thanks in advance!

That depends on your circumstances. A lot of the requested documents are only relevant in certain situations, and the checklist contains all the documents that could possibly be relevant.

So I think in your case you have everything required, although you did not mention any proof of address.

Proof of address? This is not a requirement to the best of my knowledge.

According to the information u provided,u only need one proof to prove the eea's treaty of right.Means either she prove shes a student, self employed or employed or self sufficeint.
To my knowledge u r not applying as the eea s being self sufficient. So it does not apply to your case, lease the checklist blank.
Hope the info helps.

Thanks for all your guidance. I think we are pretty straight forward - we both work full-time, we are not self sufficient or retired etc.

The only unusual thing about our case is that we received the original family permit using the Surinder Singh ruling. I am British - I was working and living in Ireland with my husband at the time. For that reason, I am not bothering to register my own arrival here (via the EEA1 form I think?)

So no doubt it's worth expalining all of this in a cover letter to send with the application form?

In my experience, it's not that unusual for these guys to get themselves confused and we cant afford to delay the application any more than they already do over the 6 month period.

Why is it that they dont feel the need to stay within the time limit as outlined by the Directive and make it a priority to do so?

It's appalling really.
