British passport for new born in India to ILR parents

Hi I have a quick query regarding my new born baby, my husband has indefinite leave to remain, because of some personal reasons my family including my husband came to India, and we have to stay here for 6months, can I apply for a new born British passport from India, is it possible?

Was the child born in india or the uk? It is not clear from your post.

If born in the UK, then yes. Else, no.

Children born outside the UK to settled parents do not have any entitlement to British citizenship. So they need to secure ILR first and be registered as British after at least one parent becomes British. Then they can qualify for a British passport

However, if such a child was born in the UK, they will be British at birth and qualify for a British passport
