ILR return to UK before 2 year lapse

Hello All,

Just checking what the current situation is with respect to a person with ILR returning to the UK within the 2 year period.

I understand that the ILR does not lapse until 2 years away. Is there any advice on how this is understood by border officials. Most of the information in the "returning resident" sticky seems to be outdated now, with the changes in immigration rules.

The rule is it stays valid if you return before 2 years. The rule is the rule and the IO would interpret it as such.
