Maintenance for dependant visa (spouse)

Post by Voiceofdidi » Wed Jan 24, 2024 3:04 pm

Hello all,

I’m on a tier 2 visa under an nhs trust. I’m currently switching jobs to another nhs trust, unfortunately this new management has informed me that they don’t provide maintenance for dependants.

So on the new cos they provided, where it asked to tick if maintenance for dependant is provided, they ticked no.

What does this mean for my spouse? If we applied for a spouse visa under my tier 2, could it be refused?

Or should we carry on with his old partner visa which is still valid, while only I, switch sponsorship??

Dependents do not have to switch with you. They can stay on their existing visas.

Can not reiterate this enough.
Loads of people make this mistake of getting dependents with sometimes long valid leave to apply when they I.e. Main applicant or SW switch employer.

Unnecessary waste of funds, time and much more.

I did not know this! so no action is required for my spouse's visa?

Although the new COS shortened my stay by more than year. when I spoke to HR about this, she posited that it is irrelevant as the new cos covers upto 5year stay in the uk for me which means i can apply for ILR before it expires.

I must say I'm not entirely satisfied with her response, however I want to know if this invalidates my spouse's visa in anyway?
