I plan to apply for a software (SW) extension with the same company I have worked with for the last three years. It is now clear to me that even though the Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) they provided three years ago was valid for five years, it is no longer valid.

However, since I will be eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in two years, I have two questions:
1. Should I request a CoS from my company for only two years? (Meaning, will they need to pay only for two years?)
2. Should I apply for an extension of only two years, if possible? Or is it only possible to apply for a minimum of three years, implying that we will still have to pay for everything, including the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) and visa application fee, for at least three years?
