Name Mis-Match For my Father In Law

Post by arungupta2008 » Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:52 am

Hello,
I am currently residing in the UK on a Skilled Visa and I wish to invite my father-in-law and mother-in-law for a two-month visit. There is a discrepancy in the name of my father-in-law as it appears on my wife's passport ("Maganbhai XXX") and his own passport ("Maganlal XXX"). This is a common naming convention among Gujaratis in India, where "Lal" and "Bhai" are often used interchangeably.
In all of my wife's documents, her father's name is listed as "Maganbhai". I am seeking advice on how to prove that both names refer to the same individual. He possesses an Identity Card (Election card) under the name "Maganbhai". Would this be sufficient proof?

Has Anyone faced this issue? Can someone share their experience?

The passport for your father in law and how his name appears there is that matters. If everything submitted matches to his passport name for his documentation then all should be good.
