Council tax single person discount question ILR

Post by Syncope » Sat Feb 17, 2024 2:02 pm

Sorry if this questions sound silly. I was living alone during first lockdown in my flat and was paying council tax with single person discount. However a friend who was trapped in the UK on a tourist visa was staying from time to time (not on a permanent basis).

I remember he sent an application to Home office to extend tourist visa showing my address (the other addresses were not suitable for receiving mails).

I will apply to ILR soon and hopefully for naturalisation a year after. I'm thinking would I receive a question regarding this? I know it sounds odd, but I'm like what If?

Cause I don't know the other addresses he stayed at and we are not much in contact any more.

I know his tourist visa was due to end but was extended and he did not overstay (did not exceed 180 days) and my ILR route is skilled visa. Thanks

Thanks

No issue, you are overthinking.

Thanks so much 🙏🙏

If you don't mind I have something else on my mind (the last one)

This friend is on skilled visa now, would they be subject to have overstayed due to what happened during Covid, when they apply to ILR or BC?

I remember his tourist visa was ending in May but he got it extended and left the country as soon as flights were resumed to home country.

I was wondering If he will come back and ask me for some letter and bills (the stuff they ask to overstayers, like where did you stay, who paid for the bills etc) at the time he applies to ILR.

Thanks in advance, regards

The concessions in place during the pandemic have nothing to do with you or where he was staying at the time or effect on his ILR.

He simply qualifies for ILR based on his time on a Skilled Worker visa. UKVI will obviously know about pandemic concessions, it is their rules.
