Didn't write PEX reference on address label - should I be worried about it?

Post by wadeday » Sat Mar 02, 2024 9:36 pm

I have submitted my passport application, and the HMPO instructed me to send my documents to the Hemel Hempstead passport office.

However, when I took my documents to the post office, the staff didn't write 'UK-EDP-FTA' and my 'PEX XXXXX' reference on the address label, but only 'HM Passport Office' and the post code.

Should I be worried about this situation? Will it cause any delays? Thank you.

Why didn't you write it on the envelope yourself?
It may take a while for HMPO to match up your documents with the application.
Not familiar with Post Office procedures but HMPO and postcode is sufficient - they deliver 1000s of applications every day.

I printed my own label at home. However, when I was at the post office, they said the letter was overweight, so they changed the label and put the address by themselves. Later I found out they didn't put the reference on it...

All I can suggest is wait and monitor the online status and contact HMPO to explain and ask for advice. It may take some time until the call agent(s) understand what the issue is. If you are not satisfied.
