SOC code change

Post by louisely » Fri Mar 15, 2024 5:46 pm

Hi guys, I have a question on SOC code used in ILR application set(O).

1. I cannot find any 'SOC code' in my Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) of my skilled worker visa. There is a field called 'job type' filled with '2423 Management consultants and business analysts'. I suppose that is the SOC code?

2. I am about to apply for ILR. The employment letter provided by my HR team have '2425 ACTUARIES, ECONOMISTS AND STATISTICIANS' as SOC code. My question is whether having different SOC code on CoS and employment letter would cause problem to my ILR application? And whether I should ask them to fix it.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks zimba. I think my HR team made a mistake on the SOC code. I am asking them to fix now.

Absence from UK - dates before my first entry

Post by louisely » Thu Mar 21, 2024 10:02 am

Hi all, I am about to apply for ILR under skilled worker route.

The issue date of my first tier 2 visa was 1 May 2019. I first entered the UK on 9 May 2019.

1. I believe the earliest date I can apply for ILR is 30 Apr 2024 - 28 days = 2 Apr 2024. Appreciate it if anyone could help confirm!

2. There is a section in the application form where you should enter all your absences from the UK. Wondering if I should put 1 May 2019 - 9 May 2019 (dates before first visa issuance and date I entered the UK) in there as well? Or the case worker would automatically consider it part of my absence instead of saying I apply too early.

3. If I should put 1 May 2019 - 9 May 2019 in the application as absence. Any suggestion on how to fill in the 'When did you leave the UK and Crown Dependencies?'

Many thanks!!!

ILR application - Country you lived in

Post by louisely » Tue Apr 02, 2024 5:48 pm

Hi guys,

For the country you previously lived in part of the form, I am wondering how granular this needs to be. I lived in China before the age of 18, and went to college in Hong Kong for 4 years, during which I lived mostly in Hong Kong but back to China during the summers, also went to the US for 2 months in one of the summers. So should my answer be like the following?

Hong Kong
China
Hong Kong
China
US
China
Hong Kong
China
Hong Kong

Or if just 4 years in Hong Kong would be enough?

I checked my previous application for skilled worker visa. One of the questions was 'Have you been to any other countries in the past 10 years?' And I listed HK 4 times, one for each academic year I was there. I might be too paranoid but does my answer across these two applications need to be consistent?

Thanks a lot

you are overthinking it
By your standard, I need to fill "china-HK-China-Hk" many more times than yours :D
I just put China (where I were born) + Hong Kong (second home). I completely ignored others "china-hk"

Regarding the US one, if you do not live in the US, do not need to put it there

I probably did not list any other countries for my skill work visa.
