Leo, my husband got his invitation so you’re off the hook!

Now. Does anyone have any idea how long the ceremony takes?
Ours is at 3 pm.
And we absolutely must get the train back to Dublin that same night.
There’s one leaves Killarney at 17.41. Is that too tight?
You should make that train time with no issue. Based on a 3pm ceremony, you will need to be there from 2pm to queue for registration and ceremony itself takes 30 minutes. So you will be out of there by 3:30/3:45.

OK, thanks very much Sairsint.
And thanks in general for coming back to support everyone long after your own citizenship-related woes were resolved.

No problem at all. I know how infuriating it is with the lack of information they provide during this process and knowing this information really helps.

I received my invitation email today for Killarney on June 10 at 3pm. I'll be travelling from Kilkenny to it and am treating myself to a two-night stay in Killarney to savour the experience. I've been living in Ireland for over two decades (on a stamp 5 for many years). I actually got emotional earlier when it hit me I've done this. My best friend is flying over from London as my guest and booked her flight as soon as I told her.

Congratulations to all that made it through this process and a heartfelt thank you to everyone on this site that offered me support and encouragement. You have no idea what it meant to me.

Hi Kay

Enjoy your stay in Killarney.
We’re coming from France and I’ve basically just taken out a mortgage for a night at the Great Southern!

I see from the email confirming our registration for the ceremony that they say they’ll send out the certificate of naturalisation within a couple of weeks.
I assume this wording is just a hangover from previous ceremonies. Or some AI hallucinating…

I would not get your hopes up they will handing out certificates at the ceremony. It said "a couple of weeks" in our email from one in February and it still took them over 10 weeks to post it out from a ceremony of 1200 people. Interestingly this was the same time frame it took them for the ceremonies in December which was over 6,000 people.

At the ceremony candidates will take an oath of fidelity to the nation and thereby become Irish citizens. Certificates of naturalisation will issue by registered post at a later date.

Hi all,

I got invited to naturalisation ceremony for 10th of June, but my GNIB expired on 24th of April I am waiting for appointment from immigration but they said might take 16-18 weeks can I still attend the ceremony? Also, I already sent to INIS my original travel document and a copy of my GNIB (it wasn't expired at the time).

No Didn't get the approval yet either. My application May 2023 .

I hope too! There is still time to get the approval and the invitation for Dublin ceremonies ,by looking at December Ceremonies last year, some people got approval and invitation just 10 days before the ceremony . So fingers crossed we will be included

Ha! I hear you. I booked a lovely manor house 20mins walk from the city centre. It's right by the national park and was $$$ but I figured I've waited long enough for my naturalisation that I want it to be special.

My friend's return flight from London to Kerry is cheaper than my coach from Kilkenny. I had to laugh at that! I'm looking forward to a special few nights away. I had so much stress getting my application together. It's such an overwhelming feeling that it's nearly over.

Enjoy your stay too. And congratulations:)

That could be very tricky for you. I'd see if there is a contact email address with the application and check it will be OK. No point turning up and being told they can't proceed. I feel for you and hope you get sorted and will be there.

There was a case I've heard of where a person's IRP was extended for a few months as they were invited to the ceremony.
Try to explain that to your local Garda. That might be your best bet.

I explained and requested if it can be extended and she said it doesn't work like that..and the next appointment is probably in January😭
Should I just go to the ceremony and see if they accept my GNIB or postpone it? And my travel document were they not suppose to return it back? Cuz I need to show my travel document on ceremony day..?!

My husband had the same issue back at the ceremony in December, we decided to chance going (all the way from Kerry to Dublin) and were turned away based on his IRP being out of date, so unfortunately they'll turn you away. :( (we were told that he'd be invited to the next ceremony, which he wasn't, so we're really hoping to be invited to one of the upcoming ceremonies)

Congrats to those that got an invitation!

I do however have a query which I'm hoping may be clarified. Paid the requested fee last July and done all vetting etc. But the only correspondence since then was an acknowledgement of paying the fee. I'm just wondering what the approval email is that is spoken about in this thread?

Was hoping for to get in on one of these ceremonies.

I think you need to contact someone about this pronto. I received an email shortly after paying the fee that said:

"A Citizenship Certificate Fee was processed on 03/05/2024. You will receive a letter from this office in due course regarding the final stage of your Citizenship application."

I can't understand why you haven't received the email but am assuming that with the high volume of applications something went wrong.

Contact Dept on Justice immediately. Is there a contact number for Tipperary? You need to deal to someone, not rely on emails.

Hi,

Did anyone receive invitations for the dublin ceremony for June 2024 yet ?

I have the citizenship fee submission email from the 3rd of may 2024 but haven’t received any email from the department on ceremony yet.

I’m based in dublin so thinking if I would be invited in the dublin round of invites since I live in dublin.

Would welcome thoughts or guidance.

Thanks in advance.

I paid in mid-December and still haven't heard anything about a ceremony. As someone based in Northern Ireland I'm hoping I've been held back for the Dublin ceremony....

Same her nisi for my wife's application (NI). Approval received in December too late for the December ceremonies. Passed over for February one. And nothing as yet...

They closed a phone line for citizenship department during Covid and hadn't opened it since. Doubt they plan to, to be honest.

Processing of the application fee might take a while - mine was processed in 2 weeks.
