Letter for border officer on arrival?

Post by couchsurfer » Sun Jul 07, 2024 8:41 pm

My wife’s mum and aunt are coming to the UK for the first time to visit her, me and our daughter.

They have never left the country (Brazil) before or speak any English.

I was thinking it would be useful to write a letter for them to give to the border officer in case of any issues, would you recommend?

Just stating they know no English, the dates they are staying with us, our address, that we are financially supporting them and that we’ll be at the airport waiting for them.

Will also get them to carry copies of their flight information including return flights.

It can't do any harm - include your phone number in case they want to double-check with you at the airport.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Thanks, yeah that’s a good point to include the phone numbers
