Visa facilitation for unmarried durable partner in Netherlands

Hi all!

I am a EU citizen (not Dutch) living in Asia. After working 5 years here I want to relocate in Netherlands and I'd like to bring my unmarried unregistered durable partner of 5 years. Checking the IND website it specifies that Dutch embassy should provide my partner with a "visa facilitation" (he needs visa for EU) to go to Netherlands with me and apply there for residence.

We can provide proof of a durable relationship as we have travelled to 4 different countries together on our holidays these 5 years and we have passport stamps, flight tickets and certain proof of living together, so this should not be a problem. My doubts are:

- If I am outside EU right now, can I show proof of my right to free movement by showing a flight ticket for both of us from Asia to Netherlands so he can leave with me or would I need to go to Netherlands first and then apply for the visa facilitation with me there? It doesn't make sense for me to go to Netherlands first since we live together here and the visa form specify we can travel together.

- would we need to apply for a 90 day visa or longer than that?

- would it be easier to just say he's travelling with me for a month and buy return tickets instead?

- I assume we need health insurance for him to as usual in Schengen visas? I haven't found info about it.
- Should we provide proof we are both single and we plan to register our partnership when we arrive at UE? Maybe making an appointment will help? Not finding info about this either.

Hi,

Let's put it in order.

1. Your partner needs to apply for visa for family member of EU citizens (facilitation visa) at the nearest Embassy in her country or representative for Nederland's schengen visa.

2. You need proof of cohabitation/durable relationship to apply for this type of visa if unmarried.

3. The facilitation visa is a type 'C' short stay visa. Can be issued for 3 months - 5years. However after arrival in schengen area it becomes unlimited. (You still have 3 - 6 months to register in each Schengen country)

4. You just need proof of cohabiting (***Proof you lived together in same address***, utility bills, rental agreements, flights tickets, stamps, proof of things you share together, old pictures together of any)

5. You also need to show proof of flights tickets for you and your partner to Nederlands (reserved not paid)

6. Normally EU family members don't need travel insurance.

7. You can wait and travel with your partner if that's more convenient for you.

After both of you arrive in Nederlands, you the EU citizen will register as single with your place of residence Gemeente ( you will be issued a citizens service number *BSN*) . Your partner has to first register with the IND with all what she used to apply for the visa and proof you are working in Nederlands or have sufficient funds to support both of you. If accepted, she will be issued with a temporary sticker in her passport. Then she goes with you to the Gemeente to register as partners (She will receive her BSN after that). Then a couple of months she will receive her Residence card for family member of a Union citizen
