Help with my sons expired BRP card

Post by isaac2k2 » Tue Aug 06, 2024 12:13 am

Hi All, I will try and explain my situation as easy as possible. I came in with my wife and son in 2008 via HSMP. Then we had two twin daughters in 2010. By 2013 we were given ILR settlement. Then due to one of my daughters illness since birth, my wife and I had been focused on her situation and spent so much money that we where unable to save up money to naturalize.

Now my son is almost 17 and would be prepping for Uni. However I decided to try and renew his expired BRP but no longer see the page. My wife and I did renew our expired cards early this year when we needed it for new jobs and we managed to get our eVisa and shared code.

But now what can we do to renew my sons expired BRP so he got something for now to use for Uni?
Also we were told that my twin daughters born in UK who are now 13 years will still need to pay £1250 each to get naturalize. In total, I am looking at over £6000 for the whole family which is a lot since my wife and I are slowly recovering from all the years of lost wages we faced as one of us had to drop out of work to look after her without government help.

See also Replace an expired BRP.

UK born daughters are entitled to register under Section 1(3).

I believe that your 17-year old son may register under Section 3(1).

Get a citizenship application fee waiver if you’re under 18.

Hi and thanks for the reply. With regards to my daughters, does it mean I will still have to pay the £1250 for each of them? Also if either myself or my wife decides to apply for naturalization, will that be OK so aleast through one person, the kids can get thiers?

Do take the time to read the given links above.

If your son has lived in the UK for at least ten years, then, from the guidance, I don’t think that a parent needs to naturalise for any of the children’s registrations.

If you cannot afford the children’s registrations, then try applying for their fee waivers first.
