Hi all,
I am Turkish by birth and live in the UK with my British partner. I recently obtained UK citizenship and I will apply for a British passport. I also have a Turkish passport.
When it comes to travelling to/from Turkey from the UK, what is the best/correct way to use my passports? Can I exit/return to the UK with the British passport and enter/exit Turkey with the Turkish one, for the return journey?
The advantage of using the Turkish one when I land in Turkey is that I can use eGates which are quicker; whereas if I showed my British one I would have to queue up in the long international queues.
But something that confuses me is - wouldn't I need to show the right to travel to the UK (ordinarily a visa, in my case my UK passport), to be allowed to board a UK-bound flight from Turkey? Which makes me think, am I better showing my British passport when leaving Turkey? But can I do this if I have used my Turkish passport to enter the country?
Lastly, does it matter which passport number/details I give when I book flights to/from Turkey from the UK?
Thanks for your help!
