Tier-1 (General) - Dependent Query - VAF9-Part 5a - Urgent!!

Post by theonlyandlonely » Fri Dec 19, 2008 1:19 am

Dear All,

I am going to apply for the PBS Tier-1 General Category. I have some confusion regarding VAF9 Form, Part 5a. Question 5.1

My wife and daughter are NOT accompanying/traveling with me and NEITHER they have plan to come and join me in the next 12 months, hence their travel date is unknown. They will apply and then join me some-time later, i.e after 12 months. So i am applying alone as an individual Without dependents and dependent application(s).

Now how should i answer the Question # 5.1 in terms of "YES / NO / NOT-APPLICABLE". And how to explain this situation to avoid any sort of confusion.

I would really appreciate your help, in this regard.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I had put "No" there but had filled in all the spouse details .
In section 7 --> additional info , I had explained that my spouse will be applying for a dependant visa after 6 months.

I got the visa 2 months back.

Thanks to all.

I got the response from the when i posted this as an official query.

What they said is that something like this :

Thank you for your Email.

Cross the "No" Box at 5.1 and if they are travelling later, just say in Part 7 that they will be joining you at some stage, but Date unknown at present.

I hope this will help to many others like me, also this will solve the maintenance requirement implicitly. Now i don't need maintenance for dependents.

Hey,

Even I am in the same position. My wife is the main applicant . At the time of applying , she specified that I wnt be joining her in 1 year since I was already here on WP. Now since I am going back to Ind, I am planning to file my dependant visa . So in that case i will be joining her within 1 year. Any idea what the maintenance of funds needs to be? Is it main applicant (2800) + dependant (1600) since I am joining her within 1 year or only the maintenance of funds for dependants.
Any idea how do I pose this query to public enquiries

Thanks
BAlaji

As the main applicant has been in UK for less than 12 months before the dependents join her/him she+you need to show 2800 + 1600

Quoting from UKBA Website
If the main applicant under the highly skilled worker category is outside the United Kingdom or has been in the United Kingdom for less than 12 months, the family member must show that the main applicant or the dependant has at least £1,600 to support the dependant as well as the funds needed to support the main applicant.
