Visitor visa for my mother

Post by shohjura » Wed Aug 28, 2024 3:11 pm

hi guys, hope everyone is well.
Apologies to sound like a broken record, but have few more questions on the following topic.
general-uk-immigration-forum/visitor-vi ... 45786.html
Since that post what has changed is I have become a British citizen and our son has been born who is also a British citizen (based on my ILR).

My questions:
-eventually I would like to get a 10 year visitor visa for my mother so she can visit us whenever she wants, would starting with a 6 month then 2 year then applying for 10 year visa is a good route?
-she will stay with us for a month (this will be her first visit to UK), do we need to provide accommodation evidence for that? We will pay for all her costs including flight tickets, maintenance etc (we have over £10k in our bank account which has started from £4k 6 months ago increasing to the current amount+£4k credit card limit, this is on top of my monthly salary that covers all of our own expenses)
-I guess a relationship evidence is not needed since she is my mother?
-she is providing her house and store ownership document to show reason for leaving UK at the end of the visit, do we need to provide passports of my 2 brothers who are based in her home country as having most family members in her home country (she has 5 siblings as well)?

Many thanks for your help and guidance as always

You can start at any point. However, no guarantee you get the visa so always advisable to start small (6 months). Less visa fees to lose if not granted.
-she will stay with us for a month (this will be her first visit to UK), do we need to provide accommodation evidence for that? No, just an utility bill to show address where she'll be residing is great. We will pay for all her costs including flight tickets, maintenance etc (we have over £10k in our bank account which has started from £4k 6 months ago increasing to the current amount+£4k credit card limit, this is on top of my monthly salary that covers all of our own expenses) Always note that you're just the support, not the primary applicant. Many have done it this was and also gotten the visa, so not end of the world. I guess it all depends on the ECO assigned the case.
-I guess a relationship evidence is not needed since she is my mother? None required
-she is providing her house and store ownership document to show reason for leaving UK at the end of the visit, do we need to provide passports of my 2 brothers who are based in her home country as having most family members in her home country (she has 5 siblings as well)? Anything and everything you have should be thrown at it.

She can only evidence what she has. Good luck!!

thanks, was there few cases where the applicant didn't work and didn't have savings and were supported by sponsor in UK and the case was successful?
Just assessing if it her case has any chance and worth applying

Every case is different in it's peculiarity. Your mother's socio-economic state in unlikely to change now or the nearest future.
You either want to try your luck or you don't. No one here can tell you what to do, or if she would get the visa or not.

To put it mildly, it's neither a guarantee or an absolute fail.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
