Applications are online. Hence no one knows where you've applied from. So yes you can fill the form online for her and do all the necessary stuff.Selina001 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 8:48 amHi,
First of all I would like to apologise if a similar topic exists. I did look and couldn't find anything.
Basically, I wish to invite my mother in law over from India (I am a British National) - It will be a standard Visitor Visa.
Can I apply on the UK Gov website myself on her behalf and just submit all my documents on there? Does anyone know what documents will be required? I will be supporting her while she is here in terms of accommodation/food etc.
I know she will have to attend a Biometrics Appointment but i can book it all for her?
Please can someone advice on the best way to do this please?
Thanks
S

I think when I started applying, it asked if the email address I am using is the applicant's - so I will just put yes and then go through the application myself.
I will give them my phone number and also put my Mother In Law's Indian number as a backup. You might want to consider using just her number. You can put your number in the invitation letter.
As I am the one sponsoring , i am assuming there will be an option for this further in to online form. What you can do is run a dummy application. That would give you an insight of needs and requirements. This could then help fine tune your questions.
Thanks

i have another question, i am going to write an invitation letter to say that I am supporting my mother in law's stay etc - who does the letter need to be addressed to? The British High Commissioner in her country. Search for the address online. Of course it's just the header any average Joe would just look at it.
I also intend to provide 6 months bank statements, 6 months pay slips as well as a letter from my Employer (addressed to the same as above) - would this be sufficient? It would help, sufficient is another thing entirely. Discretion of the ECO.
Also will upload my passport, my husbands passport and our marriage cert. Your passport showing immigration status is enough.
Do you think anything else is needed? Anything that can help from you MIL's side would go a long way.
