Refeeres

Post by demirkan » Sat Oct 05, 2024 5:07 pm

Hi, I have completed my application online but got stuck with choosing the referees. I read most of the locked topics but still not 100% sure probably because I am anxious and overthinking. I would be happy if you could confirm or correct my understanding.

One referee would be a British citizen over 25 years old. And this person does not need to be of professional standing? For example, my neighbour/friend who is working at Waitrose but not at a professional standing, British, age 37 year-old would suffice.

Second referee (or one of the referees) needs to be professional in listed jobs either British or other nations. For example, my Turkish friend with ILR who is an engineer would suffice?

Do you have any dependants not applying with you at this time?

Post by demirkan » Sun Oct 27, 2024 7:53 pm

I know there are many topics on this but reading them I couldn't find one fully articulating my situation.

I came to UK with skilled worker visa from Turkey and have an ILR.

However my wife and kids have Danish citizenship, they are in EU settlement scheme in pre-settled and settled status.

What should be the answer to this question for me? I am applying for myself at the moment but we might apply for them later.

Any ideas please?

1. Please keep your questions about the same application in one topic, this one, now merged with your previous topic.

2. You answer YES if they are not applying with you.

Thanks, I have completed the form but have two questions bothering me:

1) You must have been in the UK exactly 5 years before your application was received.

Using online application; when is my application received ? Is it when I pay the fee? Or when I upload all the documents? Or is it when I go to biometric appointment?
I am thinking when I pay for the application, which means if I pay today on 28/10/2024, then I should be here on 27-28-29/10/2019, right?

2) Checking my passport, I have seen that my last entry to the UK was not stamped by customs officers. Do I need to do anything about it, add it in my cover letter? I can add stamp from Istanbul to London and also the plane ticket...

Your passport will have been scanned - not an issue.

Should be here on the 29/10/2019 - not the 28, if applying on the 29/10/2024. There is a specific example on the AN guidance to explain this.

Thank you. After your comments, I have completed the online form and paid today. When I downloaded the application pdf, it says "Date of Application: 30 October 2024 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)".

So, this means if I was in the UK on 31 October 2019, there's no problem.

The biometric appointment does not matter, does it? The earliest I can take is on 19th November 2024 and I was flying out of UK on 20th November 2019.

Apologies in advance for my anxious questions.

The biometrics appointment date is just that, you provide your biometrics.
The key date is when you submit/pay.
