Citizenship application status portal launched by Immgration dept

Post by Vadrar » Sat Oct 26, 2024 2:41 pm

The portal allowing citizenship applicants to check their citizenhip application status (and other immigration applications) has been launched and is now available: https://portal.irishimmigration.ie/en/

Quote from recent Immigration press release:
'Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has today (Thursday) announced the launch of the Digital Contact Centre (DCC) for the immigration function of the department, with effect from 24 October 2024.

The DCC is a self-service portal that will enable immigration customers to book and amend first-time registration appointments, replacing the need for them to call a contact centre to arrange such an appointment.

The new system will also allow people to check the status of their applications, and over time will allow people to raise queries in relation to visas, registration, domestic residence permissions, travel documents, EU treaty rights and Citizenship applications.'

The official announcement (and source of quote) is here:
https://www.gov.ie/en/press-release/930 ... ce-portal/

The portal is found here:
https://portal.irishimmigration.ie/en/

It is not the same portal that allows an online naturalisation application. You need to create a new account on this separate site, even if you have applied online. It also requires you to download an identity checker app and provide some ID. The site is currently overloaded with people applying and often crashes. You may have more a reliable experience signing up in a few days time.

Thank you. Much appreciated. Could you please help how do we find the status of minor applicants?

Not sure if it's possible yet. You'd need to wait news from ISD (as you did before the portal).
Not a qualified immigration adviser. Use links and references given to gain confirmation and/or extra information.

Thanks for sharing! . The website seems to be a little laggy when it comes to ID verification but eventually I was able to check my application status "Application in Progress"

I noticed the last modified date is on 26/10/2024 , does that mean anything? if anyone waiting for a decision can they check theirs and see if they have something similar please.

As far as I know everyone’s status lists 26/10/2024 as last modified date at the moment (or at least everyone’s I’ve seen so far has.) It will presumably diverge for each applicant as processing continues. I believe it simply reflects the date of bulk upload. Ie it was when they uploaded the citizenship database (a few days after they launched and uploaded other immigration trackers.)

They have migrated all applications to the portal and you will be able to see real-time status now.

The only thing that they could do better is an email notification. You won't get a notification if your status changes (unless they need you to do eVetting / upload documents / pay fees etc).

I can see one person's status (application submitted in mid April) was changed to 'Referred for Decision' this morning. Pretty impressed with the speed.

I submitted my application in March, and on August 14, it showed “Evening Disclosure reviewed.” However, for some reason, there’s no information under “Application Stage” or “Detailed Status.” The only thing that changes is the “Last Modified” date, which went from October 26 to 27, and then from 27 to 30. Has anyone else noticed whether they can see the “Application Stage” on their application? I’m wondering if this is common.

26 Oct is when they migrated all application numbers and passport details to the new portal. At that point status has not been migrated yet.

It should have been updated on 30 Oct to include current statuses. Maybe they are doing it in batches.

Thank you for the explanation! That makes sense. So, it seems like the statuses are being updated gradually, I’ll keep an eye on it and hopefully the current status will be reflected soon.

Does anyone know what the detailed status 'document checking in progress' means?

It says date created 18/10, Last modified 18/10.

For join family visa.

I assume this is just the standard 'detailed status'?

I have a 30 month old paper application which is not showing up in the portal at all. Have sent them a query which they have also failed to respond to, and an FOI which will be out of time in 4 days.

Should I be worried they've lost my application entirely?

Signed up successfully, no problem at all, but it's not showing my FBR application. I know they have it, because I have the email confirming this, but as it was only submitted in September, I'm assuming that they just haven't gotten around to migrating mine yet?

I am very much not sure if they even plan to have it on the portal. Most likely, it'll still be in paper form.

As the portal is for immigration applications, it's managed (and done for) ISD - Immigration Service Delivery. FBR, on the other hand, is responsibility of DFA - Dept. of Foreign Affairs, a different government agency entirely.

Anyone having issues with accessing the portal? I can't view my application status now . Is there an email to contact about this?

Anyone know what the application status categories mean? Looks like there are five:
1) Received
2) Accepted
3) In progress
4) Decision
5) Complete

Mine shows the correct submission date in September but is still at Received status, so i'm curious when it might move to Accepted. Or if not being accepted already is a problem and I should contact them.

Take a look at the timeline thread.
https://www.immigrationboards.com/viewt ... p?t=342461

It’s usually the ‘2nd acknowledgment letter’ in most people’s replies. It’s not unusual to have a 3-5 months gap.

My wife had registered for this portal. She is a Non EU. She had applied for her citizenship in June this year. While registering at this portal, she gave her current nationality and original country of birth and successfully completed her registration.

However, in the Status Page, she is seeing the status of the Stamp4 visa renewal and she is not able to see the status of the Citizenship application.

She had sent a query with the application number. She got a response for that .

But iam not sure why she is not able to see her Citizenship application and its associated status? is something missing? She tried to check if she needs to modify her account settings. nothing is available to see the Citizenship application status?

Any advice @Vadrar?

I think it is very unlikely to do with anything from her end. The database that sits behind the portal appears to be poor quality. We are seeing a good number of omissions, or more commonly, errors. The only thing that can be done is contact the department to get the entry resolved. We've had some responses, some resolutions and waiting on other responses. Assuming your wife submitted an online application I wouldn't be too worried, the fix will be relatively simple once they get round to it. Its paper applications that seem to have more common omissions and no resolutions seen yet.
