PRocess of Dependent visa

Post by ferrarilondon » Fri Jan 09, 2009 11:26 am

Hi all,
Could anyone help me in this please? I am a international student who is currently married to british citizen and we have been married for 8 months now. My wife is 6 months pregnant. we live in a renting flat and we pay for everything without claiming any benefits. My question is, she only gets 600 pounds PM but we have about 3000 pounds joined in our accounts i,e MY parents sponser me for my studies in UK. our rent is 400pm. Is that enough for applying for my sppouse visa whilst in UK. our marrige is registered as i got COA for that. I have also got a job invitaiton for full time providing that my visa status is changed, pelase let me know as i am very worried.
PS my current visa runs out in juky 09

Is your wife working? Have you finished your degree, and are now looking for employment?

I think you should be fine with a spouse visa application, but will let others advise you on how to show that you meet the maintenance requirement (i.e. income/outgoings balance sheet).

For spousal applications you cannot have any third-party support, so you would have to exclude both your parents' current and potential contribution. You need to focus on your savings, her income and for income potential. £3,000 is certainly fine, just demonstrate all your incomings and all your outgoings (rent, bills, others), and show how your savings can cover you until you seek employment. You should also write that you have an employment offer, so, again, can maintain your family without recourse to public funds.

However, if you are currently working on your dissertation, I don't think you would be able to work full-time as easily as you think (i.e. you would be stretching yourself), so do take that into consideration.
