Anyone knows if there will be another batch of approval letters issued and sent to those who still waiting from 2022 before the Christmass holiday?

Not yet at least for me as an applicant of early 2022. However, I recently have heard from two people, that apparently a big chunk of Paper-based applications, -physical application and not online ones- (applications before 2023) have been lost and the delay is due to that. I don't know whether this is true or not, I only heard this from two different people who applied in 2023 and got their approval around 8 months ago. But if this is true, i would be a lot happier to re-apply online again as I think it would be faster ....

OMG! I'm getting worried more now that my file is lost . I haven't received any decision yet as well June 2023 application.

They should at least inform us about any potential lost files .

If you are 2023 applicant, that means you applied online. So there is no way your application is lost. The news (not sure if it is true) of lost applications is about the paper-based application when we had to send a big bunch of papers showing lots of things such as proof of address, IDs, work contratc and etc ....

Mine was paper-based before they introduced the online option. Nothing to do unfortunately but wait

Just write them a letter asking for an update. Quote your application number in your letter. They will respond within a month or so.

Fred13 LOST paper docs? I applied in June 2022 and am still waiting myself with only these contacts from the Minister's office: February 2023 - acknowledgement of receipt of application, February 2024 - a request for an updated Police report from my home country. That is ALL!! In over 2 1/2 years. Now I read your note about possible loss of a bunch of paper applications. That is MOST concerning. I have been the victim of identity theft more than once, and if anyone finds those documents every one of us has all of our most personal information on our applications. This is hugely concerning. I am SO "chagrined" with the lack of ongoing communication from the Minister's office, and now this - the possible careless mishandling of our documents, and without a word from the Minister's office.

Engaging with a lawyer does not work anymore.
If you bring the case with a lawyer to the court, the citizenship office would say we are running some background check and court can not stop them from that. There has been a case where an applicant brought the case to the court and the judge said why are you here when citizenship office is running a background check. Also, I don't think if they scanned the documents right away when they receive it, they may open a profile in their system but still put you in the queue until your turn comes up and then they review the documents. The news about lost application is only something that no one can confirm it but citizenship office and I really hope it is only a rumour but if it is true, I really hope we get communicated for re-applying or alternative solution. I think waiting 2 years is not unusual, I agree, but a large number of applicants are waiting for more than 30 months or even 3 years in some cases...

thank you peace23. I was happy to see this communication from the Minister's office. I'm a 2022 "paper" applicant who is still awaiting a decision, so based on the Minister's reply, there are still about 1800 of us left to be processed from 2022 and earlier. Good to know, thanks very much for sharing!

In an earlier parliamentary question, the Ministere stated that
there are 401 from 2020, 883 from 2021 and 3987 from 2022 to be decided for an outcome. This stat is published on 1st of Oct:

There were 4000 application to be decided in May while 3987 applications to be decided in Oct .... only around 10 applications have reached to a decision since May until Oct this year? This is very worrying ...

Just checked my online portal and noticed that yesterday (21 Nov) i had an update and it says "Referred for Decision". I am a 2022 applicant, does anyone know what does it mean? Does it mean they have finished with the checking and other stuff and only going to make the final decision?

Yes, the recommendation is now with the Minister’s office for official approval/denial. And you’ll likely hear in the next batch of decisions. No-one actually knows when this is, but based on recent patterns potentially January.

The good news is that my information is on the new portal, and my status says "in progress". So at the very least, I now know for certain that they have my application and are aware that I'm waiting patiently...
