Naturalisation and UK passport application with expring Indian passport

Post by chandruj » Sun Nov 10, 2024 6:20 pm

Dear all,

I am looking to apply for naturalisation and take UK passport for myself and family. Indian passport for my two sons are going to expire in January and for myself in March. While the Indian passport expiry dates are approaching, can I apply for naturalisation without renewing our passports?
Or Do I need to renew the Indian passports first before applying for naturalisation?
Is there a requirement that current passport should not be expired state for UK passport applications?

Kind Regards

Is there a requirement that current passport should not be expired state for UK passport applications? There's no specific requirement. For adult naturalisation you may have to produce additional residency documents for the period when passport has expired. For children registration you just need to explain why the passport is expired (assume it's a lengthy process). For the passport application with HMPO it doesn't matter if passports are expired, it's a separate process.

You should refrain from planning any trips until you get your approval, unless you renew your passport. It can take up to six months, sometimes more, to get approved then you have to attend you ceremony to become British.

Naturalisation refrees

Post by chandruj » Tue Nov 12, 2024 11:00 pm

Dear all,

I am looking to apply naturalisation for myself and my family(wife and 2*children) at the same time. Can I please know if we can have same referees for all 4 applications?
Or
Do I need different referees for every application?
Can you also please confirm if below referees are fine for the application?
1. Refree is Director of limited company(British passport holder with Indian origin)
2. Refree is Manager working in Studen's loan company(financial services) - British passport holder with Indian origin

Kind Regards,

Chandru

Those are ok as far as number 2 is over 25. They must not be related to any of you through blood or marriage, no uncles/cousins/in-laws. They can be the same for everyone.

##A letter of consent from xxxxx parent(s) or legal guardian(s)

@alterhase58 Many Thanks for your kind response. Going through the shared link. Can I request to confirm only the "Section 7 Page 27 - only the parents' sections 7.1/7.2" is enough to fill and attach and not the whole MN1 form as I am filling same information online?

Kind Regards

Just the section I mentioned specifically - NOT the whole form. Print, fill in and upload
You are applying online - MN1 manual form NOT required!

For child applicant MN1 form says the referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity such as teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion. Getting a reference from school is challenging so can someone please confirm if the below refree are ok?

1. Refree is director, manager or personnel officer of a VAT-registered company(British passport holder with Indian origin)
2. Refree is Manager working in Studen's loan company(financial services) - British passport holder with Indian origin

If they qualify to be referee:
1. ok
2. over 25? then ok.
Note British citizens' national origin is not relevant.
UKVI are aware of the issue around children's referees and will accept those who qualify for adult applications.
If you have any written confirmation from the school include copies and include a note explaining the difficulties.

Can you please confirm if the answer to below question is yes or no? I have got ILR taken after 5yrs Tier 2 General route. This question is confusing as there is already a question for ILR so not sure if the below one is asking if I made any previous naturalisation application.

Q. Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?

The answer is obviously YES!!

Every visa application, tier 2 and ILR, is an immigration application.

Dear All, Attaching a letter as below with our naturalisation application. Kindly confirm if it's OK and please provide an information about whom to address the letter. Many Thanks

With reference to our children's application we couldn't get teacher referee as they are not ready to share personal information so head teacher has kindly offered a reference letter to confirm both our children attended school since 30th Aug 2021. Please find the referee details below who are professionals and British citizens.

Referee1
Referee2

We request you to consider the referees for the application and please let me know if any further information is needed.

The letter is not needed. The headteacher is enough. No further explanation required.
