Travelling to Europe - Parents Skilled worker visa, kids BRP invalid not expired

Hi,

I was on a 5 year Skilled worker visa (Nov'21 - Oct'26) with my wife and my 2 kids on dependent visa. Last year, I was made redundant and had to switch the visa. My wife got a 3 year visa (valid until Apr'2027) and I am her dependent now. My kids are still dependents on my visa as UK immigration states that they can stay in UK and I need to switch their visas before their old visa expiry end date i.e Oct'26.

I was planning to go on a family holiday to Spain in December and wanted to enquire if my kids will be denied entry to UK while coming back from Spain considering their current BRPs are not valid (due to my redundancy and visa switch to my wife's primary visa) or can they can be allowed to enter UK considering that I still have time to switch them as dependents on my wife visa. Please advise.

Your kids visas are dependent on YOU being sponsored on a Skilled Worker visa. If you are not sponsored anymore by an employer, you should have changed their visa to your spouse dependent.

Thanks for your prompt response but my question is different. Can I travel to Europe with my kids whose visas are dependent on mine which has been curtailed but still valid until September 2026

Your skilled worker visa was cancelled when you were granted a dependent visa. So your children's visas are linked to no main visa now because you no longer have your own skilled worker visa.

Who knows what immigration will do or say but they will have all the information available to them and will see their visas are linked to your visa that was cancelled. Expect delays.
