Skilled Worker Dependant Extension

Post by trucnt » Thu Oct 17, 2024 2:53 pm

Hello All,

Hope you all are well! I am having a question hope I can get some advices from you all.

I already settled in the UK (ILR), I was on Tier-2 General (Skilled Worker Visa) before. My wife still need almost 3 more years to completed 5 years in the UK.

I am extending her visa (Skilled Worker Dependant),

1/ I am not sure what link below should I used to extend her visa ? The user interface has changed, I am not sure if (a) or (b) is the right form.

2/ When I tried using link (a) to create the form, it asks "How many other family members will be applying?".
As I am already settled with ILR, this is not allowed to put 0. How should I answer this question ?

3/ Should I link her extension form with my old CoS, UAN in my old Skilled Worker Visa Extension previously ?

Thank you for your advices!

The link you should use is a), more specifically: https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/ ... w-to-apply. Link b) is for the family route, which is different.

The dependant needs to use the information from the last SWV the lead applicant had when granted ILR: last CoS, etc.

Thanks @lolo2 for quick response.

Can you also give me some insights about below question too ?
2/ When I tried using link (a) to create the form, it asks "How many other family members will be applying?".

It does not allow me to input 0 as must be between 1 and 12, I input 1 for now but actually there is no other family member will be applying.

Do you have any advices for this question ?

Much appreciated!

Hi All,
Hope you are doing good!
I have another confusion about a question in the eligibility section: "Was your spouse or partner in the UK when they applied?".

Is this question is asking about the first time when I applied for visa or the second time when I extended the visa ?
The first time I applied for visa I was outside UK. And the second time I applied when I changed employer I was inside UK.
Thank you for your supports!

That question is related to the last leave of the lead applicant for which the dependant is claiming their application, e.g. the skilled worker visa renewal in the UK, so the answer should be yes.

Thank you @lolo2 for getting back to me. I have encoutered another concern, I hope can get your insights as well.

I am applied the extension form with all the details of my latest skilled worker visa application and CoS.
And the start/end dates in CoS is about to expired. So when I going to pay for IHS, with these start/end date it just asking to pay 500 GBP, which seems incrrect as I wanted to extend another 3 years for my wife.

So I am thinking of the solution is:
- Fill all the details correctly in the application (align with latest CoS, latest skilled worker form).
- In IHS, I will adjust the start/end work dates to another 3 years (which is different from CoS) to let us allow me to pay 3 years IHS. (start date will be expired date of BRP, end date will be expired date + 3 years)

Do you think if my solution above works ?

That's correct, in this case you need to put a date three years in the future from the date of application to pay the appropriate IHS fees.

Hi lolo2,

Thanks for your support.

I've got dependant partner of skilled worker visa granted successfully.

Note:
I had to update during application form process
- visa end date === desired extended date
- cos work start ===> current visa expired date
- cos work end ===> desired extended date

and wrote a cover letter to HO explain the situation of ILR of lead applicant.

once again, thanks lolo2 for supports!

Hi trucnt and Lolo2

I am in a similar situation to what you experienced, but my husband only needs to extend his Skilled Worker visa for 1 year to complete the 5-year route. Can I pay the NHS fee for just 1 year?

1. You should.post and start your own topic!!

2. You have to pay 3 years as the extension will be for 3 years. You cannot choose a lesser time to pay.
