Incorrectly selected 'Yes' to 'Is <partner's> s job on the immigration salary list?'

Post by fullmoenty » Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:48 pm

Hi, folks. I have just submitted an application for PBBS Dependant extension. One of the questions was 'Is <partner's> s job on the immigration salary list?' to which I incorrectly answered 'Yes' thinking it meant if my partner's job was on the Shortage Occupation List which was prior to this new ISL came in force. I paid a lower fee of £551. Can someone please suggest next course of action:

1. Will they ask me to withdraw the application or just pay the difference?
2. If they ask me to pay the difference, by experience, is the payment process easy like just punching in your card details and you should be good?
3. If I am asked to withdraw the application, how quickly will I be refunded the whole amount? Going to be a challenge to light both end of £3.5k bill for too long.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I suggest you cancel or withdraw your visa application immediately before submitting your biometric otherwise you risk losing your visa application fee once you receive email from UKVI for 'incorrect fee'

Hi, thanks for your reply. Since I am applying from inside UK, I have not been asked to attend a biometric appointment, or even asked to submit any documents for that matter.

Quick update on this one: Post submitting my application and upon realising my mistake, I attached a cover letter in the evidence upload section saying that I believe I might have paid less application fees and that I am happy to pay the remaining amount of given an opportunity through the means best suitable, but please don't reject the application. 3 weeks after submission I got an email from HO saying that I had paid less fees and they gave me 2 options - either fill in my card details on a form they attached in the email and reply back to that email and upload the form in evidence upload section of my application or send in a cheque of the balance amount to an address mentioned in the email. I immediately filled that form in with my card details and got a successful application the next working day. Thanks to the forum for your help.

My advice is not to withdraw an application because the wrong fee has been paid. In the majority of cases you can send a supplementary letter explaining the error and / or the Home Office will contact you to ask for the full fee.

The full fee has to be paid before an application can even proceed to decision, so you cant get a visa refusal based on an unpaid fee. It will be rejected if the fee is not paid in the prescribed period, that causes a different problem, it may mean when you reapply you at out with your visa expiry and therefore cannot carry on working / studying etc.

I received mail from UKVI "Unfortunately we are not able to provide you means to top up your application to pay the difference for your visa type. Therefore to proceed is to withdraw and reapply. " but they have not told how to withdraw. I can not find any option on my login for withdraw. Do I need to withdraw by option "If you need to change any of your information, you will need to cancel your application and submit a new one."
