BRP replacement decision after 4 months

Post by alasa995 » Mon Feb 03, 2025 7:53 am

Hi all,

I lost my BRP in August 2024, returned to the UK, and applied for a replacement on September 23, 2024. I received a generic email stating that my BRP would arrive within seven days, but after ten days, I contacted the Home Office to check the status. They informed me that no decision had been made yet.

I need to travel at the end of this month for an urgent matter. I have my eVisa, share code, and all necessary documents, but I’m unsure if my BRP replacement application will remain valid if I travel. I understand that I don’t necessarily need the BRP since it would already be expired by the time I receive it (if I ever do), but according to the Home Office website, applying for a replacement was mandatory (before the eVisa system), and failing to do so had serious consequences.

I doubt the Home Office will provide any clear response regarding my BRP replacement, as every time I call, they simply tell me to wait without offering any concrete answers.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation or have any insights on this?

Thanks in advance!

No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Consider that the helpline is managed by a third party, they are not Home Office staff. However their response should be very straightforward, UKVI stopped issuing BRPs on 31-10-2024, it's obvious that you will not receive a replacement.

I would ask for a refund of the fee paid instead - if possible.

An eVisa and a share code is what you need to travel.
