Asylum seeker and spouse/partner visa

Post by asylumquery » Tue May 27, 2025 10:56 pm

Hello, I hope you are all well.

My partner and I met in February 2024 and our relationship became serious fairly shortly thereafter including cohabiting. He applied for asylum a few months later and has his substantive interview coming up shortly. We are not optimistic in the current climate...

We are very serious about each other and trying to get a solicitor has been difficult. We can't fund privately, so I thought I'd post here.

I was just wondering what our potential options are? Is he likely to be refused re-entry in the future if his asylum application is rejected? We can't marry because the HO has his passport for notice purposes plus the availability of a ceremony goes beyond his interview date even if for some reason we got the passport which I understand can't happen.

Don't know if anybody has any words of wisdom, please? I'm sorry if this kind of post is inappropriate.

I was just wondering what our potential options are? Is he likely to be refused re-entry in the future if his asylum application is rejected? If his asylum application is rejected, what is he going to try and re-enter with? The problem starts with the airline. We can't marry because the HO has his passport for notice purposes plus the availability of a ceremony goes beyond his interview date even if for some reason we got the passport which I understand can't happen. Also, he has no passport, how's he going to fly out? Maybe I missed something between the lines. :?

No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
