5 year visitor visa

Post by prakeer » Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:48 pm

Hi,

I am a British Citizen and is looking at bringing my mother in law to UK on a visitor visa.

She has come to UK 4 times now since 2017 on 6 month visitor visa, all her 6 month visitor visa applications were accepted without any issues and she returned back everytime before visa expiry.

She is planning a visit to UK again and intend to stay for 4-5 months. I am thinking about applying 5 year visitor visa to avoid her going to visa appointments in the future.

Could you please advise on the below
1) Do I need to provide any additional evidences and documents for a 5 year visitor visa compared to what I had usually supplied for successful 6 month visa ?
2) Can I look at applying 10 year visitor visa too and will this again require any additional evidence/document. Please note that the intention is to only stay for 4-5 months during every visit and not more than a visit in every 1-2 year's time but the long duration visa is considered to avoid travel to the visa appointment center for every travel

Thanks for your response.

Could you please clarify if a TB test is required for a 10 year visitor visa, given that any 1 stay is only upto 6 month, I assume TB test is not needed, but thought to clarify.

Could you also please advise on how to answer the below questions for 10 year visitor visa

1) How much money are you personally planning to spend on your visit to the UK ?
2) How much money will they be paying towards your visit? (This question is asked because I will be the sponsor for my inlaw)

I usually answer these questions for 1 travel as in law always travelled once on a 6 month visitor visa. With 10 year multi visa, she is likely to travel multiple times in the 10 year period so I am unsure on how the above questions should be answered.

Please refer to the link I posted above !!!

Answer those questions per visit. For example, say you intend to spend xx amount per visit

TB test is not required as she will not be staying for six months or more during each visit.
