What Visa Should My Wife Apply for After my ILR (Previously on Global Talent Visa)?

Post by Ashutosh_Londhe » Tue Jul 01, 2025 12:37 am

Hi everyone,

I recently received my Settlement Status (Indefinite Leave to Remain) in the UK. Before this, I was on a Global Talent Visa.

I got married last month, and I would like to bring my wife to the UK to live with me. I wanted to ask:

1. What type of visa should she apply for in this case?
2. What documents or proofs will be required to support the application?

I already meet the financial requirements to sponsor her, so that part is covered.

Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

accomodation requirement for spouse visa

Post by Ashutosh_Londhe » Thu Jul 10, 2025 4:01 am

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the process of applying for a UK spouse visa for my wife. I meet the financial requirement, but I’m a bit unsure about how to best approach the accommodation aspect, so I’d really appreciate some advice.

At the moment, I’m living in an HMO (House with Multiple Occupants). My tenancy agreement states that the room is for single occupancy only, and I’m not sure if the landlord would allow my wife to stay with me. If I decide to use this address, would I need to provide a letter from the landlord confirming they have no objection to my wife joining me, along with a copy of the tenancy agreement? Has anyone had experience with this kind of situation?

Alternatively, a close friend of mine owns a 3-bedroom house and lives there with his wife. He’s offered to let me and my wife stay with them once she arrives. Would it be acceptable to use his address for the visa application, along with a letter of support and permission from him?

Which option is safer or more advisable in the eyes of UKVI?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Does your friend have kids? If yes, how many?

You can't use the place you currently reside at. You'd need a letter from your landlord.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Then that just might work. 3 rooms 5 persons. But then, :!: would your bills also reflect this address? That's a potential banana peel right there.

@Ticktack

No, i dont have any bills refelcting this address. But I can get letter from him saying that they will accomodate me and my wife. Will that be sufficent ?? Or should i also add his address to my bank so that it will reflect in my bank account statement??
Will that invitation letter and Bank statement refelcting address will be sufficient?
