Skilled Worker Rule Changes in 22 July 2025 and Route to ILR

Post by Raian » Wed Jul 23, 2025 4:05 pm

Dear all,

I am currently in the UK on a Tier 2 Skilled Worker Visa. I switched to the Skilled Worker visa from the Graduate visa.

Please see my current situation below -

• Switch from Graduate visa to Skilled worker before 4 April 2024
• COS issued: 2nd of April 2024 at 2pm
• Occupation code: 1134 Purchasing Managers and Directors (Bid Production Manager)
• Current SOC skill level: Highly skilled
• Salary: £27,250 (as a new entrant to the job market)
• Visa application: 13 May 2024
• Visa outcome (successful): 14 May 2024
• Permission to stay granted: 18 April 2027

Considering my case above and assuming the rules remain the same till my extension period, could you please respond to my queries below?

1. At the time of extension in April 2027, if I want to stay with my current employer in the current occupation code, what will be my required salary threshold and why? 1134 standard going rate is £54,700, and the lower going rate is £42,500. I believe the lower going rate applies?

2. At the time of extension in April 2027, if I want to stay with my current employer but want to change my occupation code to 3551 Buyers and Procurement Officers (Bid Writer), what will be my required salary threshold and why? 3551 standard going rate is £35,500, and the lower going rate is £29,300. I believe the standard going rate applies?

3. When applying for ILR in April 2029, do I need to meet the £38,700 or £29,000 salary threshold, considering I received my first COS before 4 April 2024? Please see this link - https://www.gov.uk/indefinite-leave-to- ... quirements.

I would really appreciate your help if you could guide me before I proceed to a solicitor.
